Vocational Pathway

Name:Keiron
Age: 16

Learning Journey
I would like a career in the Media, and this influenced me in my decision to study Media Studies at GCSE. I thoroughly enjoyed the course, particularly the newspaper topic. It was fascinating to find out about the range of career opportunities in the newspaper industry. I enjoyed working at the City Learning Centre where we made a film about our work. If I was to give any advice to Year 9 students taking their options this year, I would tell them not to choose a subject simply because their friends are choosing it; think carefully and don't rush into a decision. I am currently undertaking Level 2 courses as an intermediate step towards A-levels.

What do you enjoy about your pathway?
I enjoy my Sixth Form studies and would highly recommend studying in a Sixth Form school.

Would you recommend this pathway?
Yes - I would recommend to anyone that gaining qualifications, particularly in the present economic climate, will give you a greater range of employment opportunities.

What would you like to do next in your learning journey?
I would like to do A-levels and then go to university to study Journalism.

What is your career ambition?
I would like to be a reporter in music or sport.
