Using the Prospectus
The Prospectus is meant to give you different ways to track down information about courses and the schools, colleges and work-based learning providers in Sunderland who offer them. The choices in the menu provide the different ways of looking for information. You can download a simple Navigation Guide (1.8mb PDF) to moving around the site and finding courses.
Start
If you aren't certain about the best way to look or just want some information to get you thinking, then begin with Start. This part of the website contains background information about such things as options, types of qualifications, levels, EMA, and much more.
Which Job - What Choices?
If you already have a good idea about the kind of job you want to do when you finish studying, then have a look at Which Job? It's often helpful to put jobs into categories or families. Knowing about these job families, often called sectors, can help you to work out the type of job you want and the courses and qualifications you might need. This part of the Prospectus describes each job family or sector listed in the menu on the left and links to jobs, courses and learner profiles.
Which Choices offers a similar way to consider options at 14+.
Which Subject?
You might find it easier to think about the kind of subjects you want to study. 'Which Subject?' groups subjects together, for example, languages would include any modern foreign language like French, German or Spanish. In this part of the Prospectus, you can find out about subject groups, get the lowdown on courses, careers and related learner profiles are highlighted for additional guidance.
Which Provider
The most important factor in choosing a course might be the school, college or work-based learning provider. 'Which Provider?' maps and lists providers and then describes the courses and facilities each offers.
Learner Profiles
If you are struggling to make sense of all of the choices available, you might find the experiences of other people useful. Learner Profiles are written by people like you, who have already made choices before you. Even if you have made up your mind, the Profiles still make good reading!
