Apprenticeship Pathway
Apprenticeship Pathway
Name: Martin
Age: 19
Learning Journey
After attending Sixth Form for several weeks, I discovered that I would prefer to learn in more of a "hands-on" way. I realised that I should have taken an Apprenticeship route.
What do you enjoy about your pathway?
Taking a practical route into work suited me better. Taking up an Apprenticeship route has provided me with practical experience of the world of work. I was treated like an adult and earned a little money while learning. I think my practical experience has helped me secure the post I am currently employed in.
Would you recommend this pathway?
I was unemployed for a short while and I wouldn't recommend this to other people. I was also unsure about what I wanted to do, and for a short time I didn't have any direction. I think being offered the Apprenticeship placement within the Connexions Service really did help me secure the job I am in. If all the Apprenticeships offer the same kind of opportunity to learn in a practical way, yes, I would recommend this.
What would you like to do next in your learning journey?
I hope I am given the opportunity to do further training or to gain new qualifications.
What is your career ambition?
I would like a job where I could influence the services available to young people. I would like to have a positive impact on young people's lives and to make things better for them.
