13/09/2010  Prince's Trust Team Programme  (various dates - see below)
Easington Lane / Washington / Shiney Row / Sunderland (Railway Row)

PrinceThe Prince's Trust Team Programme is a 12-week personal development programme for young people aged 16 to 25 who are unemployed (particularly those who have been unemployed for six months or more) or in a minority group, not sure what career path to take, wanting a change in life or just wanting to meet new people. For those on the programme, benefits such as Jobseeker's Allowance are not affected, and New Deal clients are also eligible to apply. The programme gives young people the chance to be part of a team carrying out a practical local community project, as well as a week at a residential activity centre, outdoor activities, a work placement to gain experience of the world of work and a team challenge. Young people on the programme can uncover hidden talents, improve their motivation, self-confidence and self-esteem, assume some responsibility and develop team-working and communication skills. Young people on the programme can also gain a nationally-recognised City & Guilds qualification, achieve a wider Key Skills award and also gain a first aid qualification, all of which can be useful when updating their CV. Careers advice and job search facilities are available. Travel expenses can be paid.
